Favorite Basics: blazer

It seems that I just can't get enough of  them. It feels like I need to have one in every existing shape, color and fabric -  which is obviously impossible, but it doesn't hold me back from constantly looking for blazers in the shops. They give a different, new style even to the most basic outfit, and can transform your look more edgy and classic in the twinkling of an eye. My favorite combo is the blazer+tee+statement necklace trio, but I'm also a big fan of the more classy suit pants+matchy blazer look.

A/W 2013: Leather

We all have leather gloves, leather footwear, and a leather coat (which you can pick up for next-to-nothing at thrift stores if a new model is too pricey), but what about leather … everything else? In the spirit of Ross Geller, designers have clung to the fabric in droves, with everyone from Chanel to Vionnet (loose-fitting leather pants) to Mulberry capitalizing on the leather look. You can do the same: even a leather-embellished t-shirt makes a good wardrobe staple, and again, a thrifted leather car coat from the 1970s will keep you on-budget and autumn-ready.

Inspiration: graphic tee

Obviously I wear a lot of T-Shirts when I go running or just having a lazy day at home, but I think that graphic tees have that plus that makes even a usual jeans+t-shirt combo more interesting. They look cute with denim shorts, or you can dress them up with a blazer or a skirt and some heels. If you're a fan of the relaxed and sporty stlye (like me), you can never go wrong with graphic tees. Here are some cool ones that I found while doing some online shopping this weekend.

Article of the week

This time I would like to introduce you an online fashion magazine - Philosophy. For now, it is being published twice a year, and every edition has a certain theme (this time it is 'Archetypal'), which gives the basis of the interviews and editorials. The aim of the magazine is to give space to new and less-known fashion designers, artists, and photographers, whose works worth our attention. Have fun!:)

A/W 2013: Slouchy pants

It’s time to think loose and tapered for this season’s trousers. Slouchy pants are great for work, shopping, or an evening affair. The right pair can make your outfit look oh-so-chic and fit your personal style like a glove. Slouchy pants come in different silhouettes and fabrics. They come in silk, satin, and other textiles. They can also be cropped or full length and high-waist or low rise. The one thing to keep in mind when shopping for fall’s slouchy pants is to never buy those with too-low crotches. But before you get started on buying into the slouchy pants trend, check out some of these stylish pairs and a few ways to wear them!

A/W 2013: Denim love

No, you doesn't have to look like you're off to the rodeo. The trick is to mix the textures and fabric weights - try a loose-fit chambray shirt with your dark skinny jeans, or a basic t-shirt with boyfriend jeans and a denim vest/jacket. You can add some color to the look by wearing bright and colorful (e.g red or neon) accessories like a cute ballerina or a statement necklace. Pairing it with heels is always the best solution if you want to be more classy and feminine but don't want to carry things too far.
Personally, I'm totally in love with this trend right now, my favorites are my boyfriend jeans (find it here from H&M) and my long denim dungarees (from Pimkie). I am also planning to invest in this figure-fit denim shirt - from H&M of course :)
For me, blue (jeans) is the new black!

A/W 2013: Oversized coat

There is no better or more practical way to make a fashion statement than via your outerwear, and this season offers you a perfect way to do this - invest in an oversized coat! These coats do look beautiful on their own, but creating any kind of feminine shape for yourself, that’s the challenge. Therefore cigarette pants seem a good match and a waist belt might just become your favorite fall accessory. Otherwise, accessorize it according to the weather and your mood, and with the right pieces you can wear it not just as a winter coat, but also as a 'fall jacket' on those chilly, autumn days. If you're not sure you could pull it off, but you want to do some experimenting with this style, don't worry! High street stores such as Zara, H&M and ASOS are already offering up commercial versions of the oversized coats, featuring only one or two outsized details-  shop them now! (see the links below)

Shop them now:

grey straight coat (Zara)
wool coat with center zip (Zara)
long jacket with combination lapel (Zara)
reefer jacket (H&M)

A/W 2013's Trends

"From Paris to New York, stopping off at London and Milan along the way, it is clear that this coming season is all about contrast. Ambiguity between masculine and feminine, strength and fragility, opulence and grunge, past and present..."  /Vogue.com/

As you may have already found it out, in the next few posts I'd like to introduce my favorite trends (including accessories, hair, and makeup) of the upcoming Autumn/Winter season - this will be my selection, obviously there are many other trends out there that worth our money and attention (below there's a list with some links where you can find more detailed trend guides for this season).
So, here it comes: Fall/Winter 2013's Most Wearable Fashion Trends by Mija! :)

Article of the week

This week's favorite fashion article is from marieclaire.co.uk:  25 Iconic Fashion Moments in Film. After watching these short videos, I can promise one thing: I'll definitely watch those movies that I haven't seen yet!

From the article: "To celebrate Marie Claire's 25th birthday, we're reliving the 25 most fabulous fashion moments in film history. From Audrey Hepburn's Givenchy LBD, to Faye Dunaway's Bonnie wardrobe and Marilyn's white halterneck, come and see the most iconic style statements to grace the big screen... EVER."

Inspiration: arm party

If you need an instant help to add color and variety to your outfit (and you are not in a mood for a statement necklace), just throw an arm party. Your possibilities are limitless, but it can be useful to have in some key pieces on which you can always count.
My personal favorite is my rose gold MK watch with a golden/rose chain bracelet, and I also have many dainty bracelets - they are really pretty but don't draw off the attention from the watch.

The bag

I've been wating for such a long time for this bag to come into my life, and finally it's here! I'm in love with its shape and colour - and the best part: I can afford to buy it because it is on sale now! I have this very strong feeling that it will be glued to my arms for a good while.

Inspiration: statement necklace

What makes something a statement piece? It definitely means an interesting, eye-catching wardrobe item, which reflects your personality or your mood, and they are usually - but not necessarily - colourful and quite unique. Luckily, statement necklaces come in almost every shape, size and color - and are always available in everyone's size :)

Honestly, I'm not that type of person who always wears an accessory (though it is a constant fight with myself to get rid of that bad habit), so me and my statement pieces are still trying to get to know each other better. But I'm pretty sure that it won't take that long, since there are many reasons why these items can be our best friends when it comes to accessories.
First of all, we have to admit - we all repeat our outfits, sometimes twice in a week. Because, let's face it: we don't always have the time or energy to think about what are we going to wear on the next day, and that's the time when we just throw on our favourite pair of jeans with a t-shirt (or the black pencil skirt with a simple blouse). So, one of the best ways to make a repeated outfit look fresh is by adding a statement necklace to it. Obviously, it won't make it look completely different, but it will add freshness and some 'spirit' to the ensemble.
Secondly,  there are days when you need to go straight from casual  to classy or 'party ready'. With no time to make wardrobe changes, statement necklace lets you to improvise your A.M. look to a P.M. setting.

All in all, it worth the effort to find the perfect piece(s) for your wardrobe. You can start with some low-key pieces, and if you feel like experimenting, take a look at the bigger and more colorful ones.

Here you can find some of my favorites at the moment:
